September 25 is the anniversary of the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066. The Anglo Saxons finally defeated the viking which stopped a lot of their raiding and ensured their home rule. Of course it only lasted 2 months since it was before the Battle of Hastings. Ah short victories.
