Dutchess Dagmar Halvdan

Jarla Dagmar is an 10th-century norsewoman. Born on a farm outside of Vordingborg in the year 913, her father was a foreigner to those lands so she became known as Half Dane. Growing up it became obvious she was not meant for the farm as from an early age she would pick up sticks to use as swords and she took to treating the livestock she was tending as raiders who needed to be attacked. Her mother growing tired of warped weaving and harried sheep sent her off to live with her brother's household down at the harbor where Dagmar learned about being a merchant and continued her dreams of fighting.  (Along the way Dagmar has gotten a little sidetracked, traveled through a number of kingdoms and been Queen of Ealdormere, twice... but that is another story....)
